Getting started
How to move your website from Wix to SitePack
Wix does not offer a one-click export of a whole website, so moving means rebuilding the site on the new platform and taking your content, products and domain with you. That is very doable when you plan it in the right order. This guide shows what you can export from Wix, how to rebuild on SitePack, how to move your domain and how to keep your Google rankings with redirects.
In short
- Wix lets you export products and CMS collections such as blog posts as CSV files, but not your design or your whole site.
- Plan the move in order: inventory, export, rebuild, test, then switch the domain.
- Keep your old site online until the new one is ready, so customers never face a gap.
- Redirect every old address to its new page with a 301 redirect, to keep your Google rankings.
- SitePack's team can help you bring your products, content and domain across.
What you can and cannot take from Wix
Wix offers exports for specific kinds of content. You can export your store products, with their data, as a CSV file (digital products cannot be exported and a file holds up to 5,000 rows), and you can export the content of a CMS collection, which includes blog posts, as a CSV file. Your design, page layouts and static pages cannot be exported, so those are rebuilt on the new platform. Check Wix's help pages for the current limits.
That is less of a problem than it sounds. A new platform is a chance to simplify: keep the pages that work, drop the ones nobody reads and use a theme that fits your brand. Download your images and files from Wix before you cancel anything, so you can upload them again.
Make an inventory first
- All pages and their web addresses
- Products with photos, prices and variants
- Blog posts
- Images and downloadable files
- Forms, apps and integrations you use
- Your domain and where it is registered
Step by step: rebuild on SitePack
1. Start a 14-day free trial of SitePack and keep your Wix site online while you build.
2. Choose a theme and set your colours, fonts and logo.
3. Rebuild your pages with the visual editor. Start with the home page, the contact page and your pages with the most visitors.
4. Add your products and categories, with photos, prices and stock. Variants such as size and colour live inside one product.
5. Move your blog posts and write fresh titles and descriptions for the ones that matter most.
6. Set up payments, your business details under Locations and your cookie banner.
7. Read every page on your phone and on a desktop, and place a test order.

Move your domain and email
Your domain name is yours, and you can use it with SitePack. If you registered it through Wix, you can move it to another registrar by unlocking it and requesting an authorisation code; Wix's help pages describe the current steps. If your domain is registered elsewhere, there is nothing to transfer: you only change its DNS settings to point to SitePack.
Do this last. Keep your domain pointing at Wix until the new site is finished and tested, then switch. If you have email on your domain, check it before and after the switch so no messages are lost, and remember that email settings (MX records) are separate from your website settings.
Domain checklist
- Find out where your domain is registered
- Unlock it and get an authorisation code if you move it
- Lower the DNS TTL a day before the switch if you can
- Point the domain to SitePack when the new site is ready
- Check email delivery afterwards
Good to know
You can register or transfer your domain with SitePack, so your domain, hosting and business email sit in one place.
Keep your Google rankings with redirects
Your Wix pages have web addresses that people and Google already know. When an address changes, the old one stops working unless you redirect it. A 301 redirect sends visitors and search engines from the old address to the new page, so Google understands that the page has moved. List every old address, match each to the closest new page and add the redirects before you switch.
Keep the same address where you can. If your Wix page was /about-us and you call the new one /about-us, no redirect is needed. After the switch, check Google Search Console for pages that return errors, and submit your new sitemap.
Redirect checklist
- Export the list of old addresses
- Match each to the closest new page
- Add 301 redirects before the switch
- Keep addresses the same where possible
- Submit the new sitemap in Search Console
Good to know
In SitePack you add 301 redirects under Content > Redirects, and SitePack counts how often each one is used.
Launch checklist and what to expect
Before you switch, test everything: links, forms, checkout, mobile layout and speed. Avoid busy days, and tell customers if the switch can briefly affect orders. After the switch, watch your orders and emails for the first days and check Search Console for errors.
Expect some movement in rankings in the first weeks while Google picks up the new site. If your content, addresses and redirects are in order, that normally settles. Keep your Wix account until you are sure everything has been moved, then cancel the plan so you are not charged twice.
Final checks
- Test the contact form and a test order
- Check mobile layout and loading speed
- Confirm that payments and emails work
- Verify the redirects with a few old addresses
- Cancel the Wix plan only after everything works
