What does an SEO check tell you?

An SEO check reads one page the way a search engine does and lists what is missing or off. This tool looks at the HTTP status, redirects, title, meta description, headings, canonical link, noindex rules, language tags, structured data, image alt text and social tags. Each finding is marked as an error, a warning or a tip, so you know what to fix first. A clean result does not guarantee rankings, but it removes technical reasons that can hold a page back.

What this SEO check looks at

The check fetches the single address you enter, follows any redirects and reads the HTML that comes back. It does not crawl your whole site, so check your most important pages one by one: the home page, your main service or category pages and your best-selling products.
  • HTTP status and the redirects on the way to the final address
  • Page title and meta description, with their length in characters
  • The H1 heading (none or more than one) and the number of H2 headings
  • The canonical link, and whether it points to another address
  • Robots rules: a noindex in the page or in the X-Robots-Tag header
  • Language versions (hreflang), the lang attribute and the viewport tag for phones
  • Structured data (JSON-LD types) and images without alt text
  • Open Graph and Twitter tags, HTTPS and the number of words on the page

How to read the result

The first card sums up the points to improve, the most serious first. Errors come first: the page answers with an error status, is not an HTML page, has no title or asks search engines not to index it. Fix these straight away, because they can keep the page out of Google entirely. Warnings are next, such as a title that is too long or too short, a missing meta description or H1, missing social tags, images without alt text or a page without HTTPS. Tips are worth doing but less urgent, for example a short description, a missing canonical link or no structured data. The second card shows the raw values the check found, so you see exactly what a search engine gets to read.

Common mistakes the check finds

Most problems come from templates and settings, not from the text itself. These are the ones that turn up most often on small business websites.
  • The same title or description on every page, so pages are hard to tell apart in search results
  • A noindex that was left on after the site went live
  • Two or more H1 headings, often because the logo and the page title are both marked as H1
  • A canonical link that points to the home page or to an old address
  • Product photos without alt text
  • Pages with only a few lines of text, such as a category page with just a grid of products

What to do next

Start with the errors, then work through the warnings page by page. Rewrite the title so it describes this specific page, with your brand at the start or the end. Write a description that sums up the page in one or two readable sentences instead of a list of keywords. Give each page one clear H1 and use H2 headings for the sections. After changing a page, run the check again to confirm the fix. Then use the SERP preview to see how the new title and description look in Google, and the Open Graph checker to test how the page looks when shared.

How to use the SEO check

  1. Enter the address

Paste the full address of the page you want to check, for example your home page or a product page.

  2. Run the check

Click Analyse page. The tool fetches the page and reads the title, description, headings, tags and content.

  3. Fix the top points

Work through the errors first, then the warnings. Each point says what is wrong and how to fix it.

  4. Check again

After saving your changes, run the check again and see the points disappear.

Questions about the SEO check

Is this SEO check free?
Yes. You can check pages for free and without an account. To keep the tool fast for everyone, the number of checks per hour is limited.
Does the tool check my whole website?
No. It checks one address at a time. Run it on your most important pages, such as the home page, the main service or category pages and your top products.
Is 60 characters a hard limit for a title?
No. Google says there is no limit on how long a title can be, but long titles are cut off to fit the screen. This check flags titles under 30 or over 60 characters and descriptions under 70 or over 160 characters as a practical guideline, so the important words stay visible.
Why does Google show a different title or description than mine?
Google builds title links and snippets automatically. It mainly uses your title element, but can also use headings, og:title or other text on the page, and snippets are mostly taken from the page content. A clear, accurate title and description make it more likely that Google shows yours.
Does a clean result mean I will rank higher?
Not on its own. The check covers technical and on-page basics. Rankings also depend on how useful your content is, how well it matches what people search for and which other sites link to you.
Does SitePack take care of these points?
SitePack adds a canonical link, language versions, Open Graph tags and a sitemap to every page, and serves every site over HTTPS. You write the title and description per page in the editor, which also gives search engine and readability tips while you write.
